Why The Commons?

The Commons is about a convening place, an information place, and ultimately a community and place of conversation.

Since writing it, I've thought back on some of my experiences over the years with commons in New England. And yes, I'm also aware there's another reference to commons in my other home, London, in the United Kingdom. But in the New England context, I remember as a kid walking through the Concord Common on Patriots’ Day, retracing the steps of those who marched for something greater than themselves, as a beacon to those around them, and ultimately to the world at large.

I in no way profess that this Commons is going to remotely be of such magnitude, but hopefully it can also, in its own way, be a beacon: a convening, a place where new thoughts and new ideas are welcomed, and where people can walk alongside together to create something greater than themselves, both in their organization and the world about them.

Have a reflection on this?
